Job Summary

WesternScott Fetzer is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our team. As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces and sequence of operations.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
  • Effectively use shop packages, including manufacturing orders, bills of materials, routings, part prints, job layouts, and quality alerts.
  • Ensure that only calibrated gages and tools are used.
  • Set up and operate multiple machines simultaneously as required by the routing.
  • Sort and rework non-conforming parts as needed.
  • Follow safe working practices and report any unsafe conditions to supervisory personnel or the safety team.
  • Achieve efficiency targets.
  • Produce product to established quality standards and notify your direct supervisor if non-conforming product is found.
  • Participate in SQCD Board meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform quality checks per WEOP0855 and associated Inspection Record (QF08120).
  • Request raw materials in a timely manner as needed for production and maintain accuracy of all inventory procedures.
  • Develop multiple skills for multiple cells as needed.
  • Maintain surrounding areas for cleanliness, orderliness, and organization per established 5S practices.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance according to released methods 100% of the time.
Requirements
  • Basic computer knowledge desired.
  • Ability to safely and properly operate and set up various production machines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and blueprints.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and fill in required quality forms.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and properly use measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gages, and other inspection devices as needed.
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience.
