Job Summary:
Milwaukee County is seeking an exceptional Principal Architect to lead the Subject Matter Expert unit. As a key member of the Architecture, Engineering, and Environmental Services (AE&ES) section, you will oversee capital improvement projects, manage project portfolios, and drive customer service excellence.

About the Role:
This high-profile position requires a seasoned professional with expertise in architecture, engineering, and construction. Your extensive experience in project management, leadership, and team supervision will enable you to effectively guide a team of subject matter experts. You will be responsible for providing technical guidance, quality assurance, and quality control reviews, as well as collaborating with client departments to develop project scopes and cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the SME unit in providing subject matter expertise in architecture and other building systems.
  • Manage projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Develop and set design, construction, and operation and maintenance standards and guidance for Milwaukee County use.
  • Represent Milwaukee County at Board Meetings, conferences, and in other official capacities.

Requirements:
To be considered for this challenging role, you must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and at least 5 years of experience as an architect or in project management. A valid WI driver's license and Wisconsin registration as a licensed architect within six months are also required. Additionally, you should have thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of architecture, as well as familiarity with structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering and construction.
