RN - PRI Child Diagnostic Unit

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Psychiatric Research Institute Child Diagnostic Unit. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct care to patients and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
Job Summary:This is a full-time day shift position that requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care. The successful candidate will have a strong nursing background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
- Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
- Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
- Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act.
- Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family-centered care principles, practice standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
- Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
- Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
- Reports variances in care/systems/processes through the appropriate means.
- Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.
- Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas.
- Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.
- 2 or more years of Registered Nurse experience.
- Current BLS.
Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.
