Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and apply respiratory techniques to support rehabilitation for patients with various respiratory conditions and other health issues.
  • Initiate therapeutic interventions, maintain accurate patient documentation, and manage respiratory equipment.
  • Administer a range of bedside treatments as required.
  • Provide quarterly training sessions for nursing personnel.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Participate in relevant interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in tracheotomy care.
  • Experience in a long-term care environment is preferred.
  • Adhere to facility protocols and procedures.
  • Manage tracking, auditing, and caseload responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.
  • Execute skilled interventions as outlined in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual, including but not limited to:
  • Oxygen weaning therapy
  • Omniflow – Biofeedback
  • Group respiratory therapy sessions
  • Standardized respiratory assessments
  • Aerosol therapy
  • AccuPAP therapy
  • Incentive spirometry
  • Chest physiotherapy
  • Deep breathing and coughing exercises
  • Bronchial hygiene techniques

  • Postural drainage
  • Patient positioning
  • Oro/Naso-pharyngeal suctioning
  • Airway clearance and management techniques
  • Trachea-bronchial suctioning
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Mechanical ventilation support
  • Spirometry bedside testing
  • CPAP/BIPAP management
  • High-flow oxygen therapy
  • CHF program participation
  • Cardiac program involvement
  • Pulmonary program engagement
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Graduate of a COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program. Must hold a valid RRT or CRT license.
  • Licensed to practice in the relevant state with current BLS certification.
