Position Summary:

ARC is in search of a detail-oriented and cooperative professional to fill the role of Research Analyst specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This position is integral to the ARC Research and Evaluation Division, where the selected candidate will assist in various data-related tasks, including GIS mapping, research, and evaluation projects aligned with ARC's Strategic Plan. Responsibilities encompass the collection, management, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of geographic data through maps, databases, and comprehensive reports. The Research and Evaluation team undertakes both internal and external initiatives to assess socioeconomic conditions in Appalachia, analyze economic development patterns, identify areas of need, and evaluate the impact of ARC's programmatic investments. The insights generated will contribute to policy documents, workshops, press releases, research publications, evaluation studies, and digital content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize research methodologies and quantitative analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Employ GIS mapping software and data processing techniques to create and manage geographic information.
  • Effectively communicate complex analyses and findings to team members, management, and external partners through visual data representations.
  • Implement efficient research methods and tools to enhance reporting and analytical processes.
  • Demonstrate project management skills by developing and adhering to project timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, economics, regional planning, computer science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of statistics and social sciences.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, showcasing adaptability and innovative thinking.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, maintaining a valid driver's license.
