Surgical Technology Lab Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technology Lab Assistant to join our team at Quinsigamond Community College. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in supporting the education and training of our students in the field of surgical technology.
Key Responsibilities- Observe and provide feedback to students performing surgical procedures and techniques in a non-patient contact environment.
- Ensure students are using proper techniques of disinfection, sterilization, and antisepsis.
- Prepare demonstrations, organizing supplies and equipment.
- Assist instructors with demonstrations and monitoring of student performance.
- Notify the Surgical Technology Program Coordinator of equipment repair, maintenance, and replacement needs.
- Ensure the surgical technology lab is in compliance with college safety policies.
- Provide feedback to students during lab demonstrations of lab skills, including positioning, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, establishment of a sterile field, and proper use of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Monitor students using laparoscopic simulation.
- Maintain documentation of skills as required by program accreditor.
- Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
- Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
- Minimum two years of experience either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology (or a combination of both) within the past five years.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Previous experience working in an educational setting as a lab assistant.
