Overview:

The Port Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the unloading of various waste materials, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste. This role includes conducting container inspections, labeling, and preparing hazardous waste lab packs while adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. The specialist will collaborate with the organization's staff to ensure best practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for maritime clients, managing manifest reconciliation and document tracking.
  • Coordinate the safe transport of waste in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Address client concerns, including requests for additional pickups or changes in service.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Proactively identify and meet customer needs to enhance satisfaction.
  • Manage time and resources effectively to achieve operational objectives.
  • Communicate ideas clearly and diplomatically, responding to inquiries with professionalism.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics and company values in all interactions.
  • Promote company services positively and professionally.
  • Demonstrate persistence and commitment to completing tasks with quality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance, including RCRA, DOT, DEA, and OSHA.
  • Knowledge of waste segregation, disposition, and transportation processes.
  • Possession of a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required; additional certifications such as CHMM, Advanced DOT, and HAZCOM are advantageous.
  • Ability to maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
  • Commitment to safety and careful handling of materials during operations.
  • Availability to work weekends is essential.

This is a part-time position requiring a TWIC Card Holder.
