The Department of Public Health is on the lookout for a skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Epidemiologist. This position will be part of the Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology (MCH Epi) Unit, reporting directly to the Epidemiologist 4. The selected candidate will act as a Data Coordinator for the School Based Health Center sites funded and contracted by the Department of Public Health.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Unit: Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology (MCH Epi) Unit Location: Hartford, CT Work Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week Schedule: First shift, Monday through Friday OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE Designing and implementing effective data collection methodologies and tools. Compiling, analyzing, and presenting data in various formats including tables, charts, and written reports. Offering training and ongoing support for the data collection processes. JOB CLASSIFICATION OVERVIEW

This role is accountable for executing complex tasks related to the investigation of infectious, chronic, and non-infectious diseases, as well as implementing disease prevention strategies.

DUTIES INCLUDE

Supervising routine epidemiological investigations; Leading complex investigations; Developing strategies for disease containment among high-risk groups; Writing technical reports on outbreak investigations; Collaborating on standard protocols for disease investigation and control; Creating research instruments and questionnaires; Analyzing data for trends and risk factors; Conducting training sessions and workshops; Preparing communications regarding disease issues; Utilizing statewide data for enhanced disease surveillance; Assisting with budget and grant preparations; Contributing to program goal development; Representing the department at health promotion events; Delivering presentations to various audiences; Participating in staff performance evaluations; Performing related duties as assigned; Establishing networks with agencies and organizations for disease surveillance and intervention; Carrying out additional responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Extensive knowledge of disease processes and epidemiological methods; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation; Ability to conduct independent epidemiological investigations; Supervisory skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Eight (8) years of experience in epidemiological investigations in a professional capacity.

SPECIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) years of the experience must involve comprehensive epidemiological tasks including interviewing and trend analysis at the level of an Epidemiologist 2.

EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTIONS

College education may substitute for experience on a specific basis. A Master's degree in a relevant field may substitute for additional experience. A Doctorate in a related discipline may also substitute for experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, and SQL; Experience with survey tools like Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey; Background in epidemiologic studies focusing on maternal and child health disparities; Skills in data analysis and report generation; Experience collaborating with community partners for health information.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to receive immunizations as necessary. Potential travel may be required.
