Job Description

The Permanent Legal Assistant - Defense role demands a highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient individual who has a deep understanding of litigation support, appointment scheduling, time management, and organization skills. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings, and trial preparation.
  2. Coordinating and scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates for attorneys.
  3. Managing attorneys' calendars and ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  4. Drafting, editing, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence.
  5. Maintaining case files and ensuring they are organized and up-to-date.
  6. Conducting legal research and assisting in the preparation of legal arguments, applications, declarations, and motions.
  7. Liaising with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals in a professional manner.
  8. Assisting in the preparation of billing statements and tracking billable hours.
  9. Performing administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, managing mail, and maintaining office supplies.

This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is also essential.
