Facility Overview:
Shelby Baptist Medical Center, located in Alabaster, is a comprehensive healthcare facility with 252 beds, serving over 51,000 patients annually in the emergency department. The center is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. We provide a wide array of services to cater to the diverse needs of our patients, ensuring rapid and effective responses for conditions such as chest pain and stroke symptoms, alongside specialized surgical services in cardiology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, and psychiatric care.

Position Summary:
The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for conducting non-invasive cardiac diagnostic evaluations. This role involves utilizing procedural data to assess cardiovascular diseases and performing both quantitative and qualitative analyses of video recordings while gathering patient medical histories.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Select and execute appropriate diagnostic procedures, integrating clinical findings with testing results to form a comprehensive diagnostic impression.
2. Support junior technical staff as needed, including assisting with clinical assessments and reviewing diagnostic results.
3. Engage in the education of post-graduate medical trainees regarding laboratory techniques, procedural analysis, and interpretive findings.
4. Collaborate with medical personnel to discuss clinical and diagnostic outcomes, and communicate findings to attending or referring physicians as necessary.
5. Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocols, performing minor repairs as required.
6. Input preliminary report data into the hospital's computer system following the physician's initial dictation.
7. Manage billing for inpatient and outpatient testing services.
8. Schedule appropriate testing procedures for inpatients as needed.
9. Assist in prioritizing testing services based on the analysis of referred clinical information.
10. Participate in the Quality Improvement program and maintain professional development through attendance at conferences and involvement in professional organizations.

Education Requirements:
Required: Associate's Degree in Cardiac Services or Applied Sciences, or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements:
Required: Minimum of 6 months of experience in echocardiography.

Certifications:
Required: Registered or eligible for RDCS, BLS.
