Position Overview: Surgical Technologist

As a vital member of the surgical team, the Surgical Technologist is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care during surgical procedures. This role is essential within Kettering Health, a prominent not-for-profit healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining a sterile environment for surgical operations.
  • Efficiently manage and pass surgical instruments to the surgical team.
  • Label and handle patient specimens accurately.
  • Execute Surgical Technologist duties within the designated scope of practice.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Support patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Operate specialized equipment in the operating room as required.
  • Provide necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment throughout surgical interventions.
  • Maintain aseptic technique during surgical preparations.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program or certification from a recognized body.
  • A minimum of four years of experience as a surgical technologist with a High School Diploma.
  • Four years of relevant military or on-the-job training in surgical technology with a High School Diploma.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required within one year of employment if initially hired without certification.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in a hospital operating room setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Ability to meet call requirements as needed.
