As a Clinical Pharmacist - Infectious Disease Specialist at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing clinical pharmacy programs to improve patient care and reduce costs. You will provide clinical services to patients and professional staff, interact with medical staff on drug utilization and cost containment, and may be asked to assist in supervising department employees.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a communication system to ensure effective information flow to and from staff.
- Serve as a role model for competent professional practice by educating, mentoring, and supporting pharmacy students, staff, residents, and peers.
- Seek and recommend opportunities for cost containment and improve clinical pharmacy services.
- Effectively plan and manage resources for continuity of care between the patient care area, Pharmacy, and other settings.
- Participate in orientation and continuing education programs, and serve as a resource to pharmacy staff, physicians, and nurses.
- Assist with clinical research to evaluate clinical and economic outcomes of drugs and drug regimens.
- Develop and implement utilization reviews targeted for expensive, potentially harmful, or improperly used drugs.
- Provide direction and guidance for development and review of clinical pharmacy educational services, and assist with implementation of educational programs for physicians and nursing staff.
- Oversee the clinical students/residency program and ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Promote individual professional growth and development, and demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
