Job Overview

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge storage products with interfaces like NVMe/PCIe.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C/assembly, data structures, algorithms, and multi-threaded programming. Experience with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC), embedded systems, and firmware development on RTOS (e.g. uCOS/ThreadX/MQX/VxWorks/Embedded Linux) is highly desirable.

As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing firmware for our storage products, as well as collaborating with other engineers to resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop firmware for storage products with interfaces like NVMe/PCIe
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products
  • Develop and maintain firmware documentation
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues

Requirements:

  • Bachelors + 4 yrs experience or Master +2 yrs experience required
  • Strong knowledge in C/assembly, data structures, algorithms, and multi-threaded programming
  • Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC), embedded systems, and firmware development on RTOS
  • Experience with bus analyzers, JTAG, emulators, and other firmware debugging tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
