ResponsibilitiesAs a Phlebotomist, your primary responsibility will be to collect high-quality blood samples from patients using various phlebotomy methods. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure that samples are collected efficiently and accurately. Your duties will include:
- Collecting blood samples from patients of all ages using venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections
- Providing rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes
- Working collaboratively with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Using computer programs and systems to manage patient information and track sample collections
- Accurately identifying patients, labeling, handling, and transporting specimens
- Answering phones and assisting with the training of students and new employees
To be considered for this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, you should have:
- Phlebotomy experience, preferably
- Experience working in a medical field, preferably
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects
- Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT)
As a Phlebotomist at Mayo Clinic, you will be eligible for a competitive compensation package, including:
- Hourly rate of $24.48 for Phlebotomist I and $26.14 for Phlebotomist II
