Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Strategic Materials. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of facility machinery, ensuring optimal production and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and manage stocking levels to ensure timely repairs and replacements.
  • Order parts from local vendors and catalogues as needed to support maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including changing bearings, belts, and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors.
  • Clean and maintain pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate equipment issues with mechanics and supervisors from other shifts to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Maintain and secure work tools and equipment to prevent loss or damage.
  • Support the creation of sorting computer software and parameter backups to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform general PM and repairs on bucket elevators, screw conveyors, fork lifts, front end loaders, and sweepers.
  • Install new facility machinery and equipment as required.
  • Provide backup support for maintenance technicians as needed.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance on Non-Ferrous Metal Detector equipment.
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs, and maintain a preventive maintenance program (PM) for mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees and contribute to a team effort.
  • Rigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy components as required.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks, including patching holes in steel chutes and transitions.
  • Apply problem-solving and project management skills to resolve equipment issues and improve maintenance efficiency.
Requirements
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in English and Spanish language.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and Excel.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and lead by example.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to perform the listed duties, with occasional exposure to dusty and noisy conditions. A mixture of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity is required, including occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
