School Custodial Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled School Custodial Professional to join our team in the City of Somerville. This is a full-time position that requires exceptional cleaning skills, physical stamina, and attention to detail.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for performing custodial duties such as cleaning walls, floors, and windows; shampooing carpets; sweeping, washing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; dusting; changing light bulbs; policing grounds; sweeping walks; cutting lawns; removing snow and ice; caring for custodial equipment; emptying wastebaskets; removing trash; ordering custodial supplies; and making minor repairs to buildings, equipment, heating, lighting, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing systems.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires agility and physical strength, with the ability to function in close quarters and exposure to noise, vibrations, hazards, and atmospheric conditions including fumes, dust, and air contaminants.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and maintaining school facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff
- Performing custodial tasks such as cleaning walls, floors, and windows; shampooing carpets; sweeping, washing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; dusting; changing light bulbs; policing grounds; sweeping walks; cutting lawns; removing snow and ice; caring for custodial equipment; emptying wastebaskets; removing trash; ordering custodial supplies; and making minor repairs to buildings, equipment, heating, lighting, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing systems
- Maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail in all aspects of custodial work
- Working effectively with colleagues and supervisors to achieve departmental goals and objectives
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand/walk for most of the day
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain physical exertion for long periods of time and operate hand and power tools and equipment
- A competitive salary of $1,029.26 per week
