Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient care and treatment.

This position requires a strong background in clinical laboratory science, with experience in performing complex testing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, and conducting quality control procedures. You will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide world-class healthcare to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of laboratory tests and procedures, including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, and microbiology.
  • Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and apparatus.
  • Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • One year of specialized experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including performing complex testing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, and conducting quality control procedures.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or other board or registry deemed comparable by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)).
  • Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
Working Conditions

This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments in a timely manner.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
