Advanced Neuromuscular Orthopedic Surgeon

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Orthopedic Physician to join our team as a Fellow in Neuromuscular Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. This 6-month fellowship program is designed to provide advanced subspecialty training in the field of neuromuscular orthopedic care.
About the FellowshipThis comprehensive fellowship program offers a unique blend of clinical and surgical experiences. As a fellow, you will participate in clinics with staff physicians, interacting with pediatric and adult patients suffering from neuromuscular disorders. You will also engage in multi-disciplinary clinics, including spasticity evaluation, spina bifida, early motor delay, neuromuscular upper extremity, and muscular dystrophy clinics. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with physiatrist physicians in Botox and Phenol injections, and upon interest, observe neurosurgery teams performing selective dorsal rhizotomies and baclofen pump implantations.
Teaching and Learning Opportunities- You will receive teaching through one-on-one interactions with faculty physicians in outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and operating rooms.
- Didactic teaching will be conducted in morning conferences.
- Dedicated time will be allocated for scholarly activity, including self-directed learning and research.
- You will have the opportunity to obtain formal gait analysis interpretation certification with gait lab physicians, physical therapists, and engineers.
As a fellow, you will work alongside orthopaedic surgery residents in a collaborative and supportive manner, ensuring a mutually beneficial experience for all parties involved in education. You will have opportunities to assume a teaching role in some situations in the outpatient clinic and in the operating room, augmenting the resident learning experience and your own teaching experience.
Qualifications- Prior to appointment, you should have successfully completed an ACGME accredited residency in orthopaedic surgery and a POSNA or ACGME accredited fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
- You must be eligible for/obtain a physician/surgeon Minnesota Medical License.
We offer competitive compensation at the level of a PGY-6 trainee in the state of Minnesota for the 6-month tenure. Comprehensive benefits will be provided by Gillette Children's Hospital.
