Job Summary

You will serve as a Painter Leader (Expert) in the Department of the Navy, working at various sites including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. As a Painter Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of painters and ensuring the completion of painting projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of painters to complete painting projects on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that all painting projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement painting plans and schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Monitor and control painting costs to ensure that they are within budget.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that painting projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must be able to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications
  • Ability to lead or supervise.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprints).
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Dexterity and safety.
  • Knowledge of materials.
  • Practices in construction, structure.
  • Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
