Position Summary

The Manager of Coding Audits will oversee auditing processes across all facilities to ensure adherence to health system standards and compliance with relevant regulatory bodies, including OIG, HSCRC, CMS, NCCI, and OCG. This role is crucial in managing the auditing activities of coders, auditors, and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) personnel to enhance coding accuracy and documentation quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and conduct audits to verify compliance with established guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Coding Manager and Training Manager to develop and recommend Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).
  • Engage with CDI teams to ensure compliance and identify areas for documentation enhancement.
  • Ensure all auditors complete necessary departmental orientation before engaging in auditing tasks.
  • Participate in Coding Roundtable (CRT) discussions to foster continuous improvement.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or a related field, or 7 years of relevant experience; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in coding inpatient and outpatient hospital medical records.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience in the coding field, overseeing professional staff; 5 years of auditing experience is required.
  • Experience managing multi-facility departments is preferred.
  • Certification in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), AHIMA Approved ICD10CM/PCS Trainer, Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP).
  • Preferred certifications include Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

  • Ability to manage filing systems and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and working independently.
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology and computer systems.
