The Bureau of Indian Affairs is seeking temporary employees to work on Hotshot Crews in Arizona. As a Wildland Firefighter, you will be responsible for suppressing and managing wildfires in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities- Suppress and manage wildfires using various techniques and equipment
- Work in a team environment to achieve fire suppression and management goals
- Participate in pre-season training and certification programs
- Perform physical labor in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Meet the qualifications for a GS-03 or GS-04 position
- Have a valid state driver's license
- Pass a pre-employment physical examination and work capacity fitness test
- Be registered for Selective Service (if applicable)
- Pass a background investigation and/or fingerprint check
As a Wildland Firefighter, you will work in a variety of environments, including forests, ranges, and deserts. You will be exposed to extreme temperatures, smoke, and other hazardous conditions. You must be able to adapt to changing situations and work in a team environment.
Education and ExperienceTo qualify for this position, you must meet the qualifications for a GS-03 or GS-04 position. You must also have a valid state driver's license and pass a pre-employment physical examination and work capacity fitness test. Additionally, you must be registered for Selective Service (if applicable) and pass a background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
