PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Educate patients and caregivers on the correct usage of respiratory equipment and procedures.
  • Ensure patients and caregivers can effectively operate and maintain respiratory devices. Conduct clinical assessments including pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs.
  • Manage routine follow-up communications with patients based on their individual needs.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required.
  • Administer and operate various respiratory care devices, including oxygen therapy, nebulization, apnea monitoring, suctioning, and both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Inspect and test equipment to confirm proper functionality.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for each patient, documenting all relevant information, care plans, physician orders, and follow-up notes.
  • Ensure accurate data entry on monitoring platforms for specific respiratory equipment.
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patient treatment plans, medical conditions, home environments, and care strategies.
  • Assist with patient scheduling as necessary.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program is mandatory.
  • Possession of valid certifications, licenses, and professional designations.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required, as travel for patient home visits may be necessary.
  • Registration or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is essential.
  • Must hold a current RCP license in the state of practice, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • All relevant licenses must be maintained in good standing across all states of practice.
  • A minimum of one year of related professional experience is preferred.
