Job Overview

Smiths Interconnect Inc. is seeking a skilled Electronics Engineer Technician to join our team. As a key member of our assembly operations team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to the assembly and testing of electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex technical functions in support of engineering activities, including setup, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic and electro-mechanical components and systems.
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions to assemble and test complex electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct engineering tests to collect design data and assist in general research work.
  • Diagnose and isolate malfunctions and make necessary repairs.
  • Assist in the development of electronic equipment and systems.
  • Repair or modify cables and equipment returned by operational users or by personnel in the associated test and development laboratories.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Work closely with designers, engineers, and quality personnel to ensure high-quality products.
  • Maintain calibration and shelf-life on all equipment in assigned workspace.
  • Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or Tech School.
  • 2-4 years of experience in electronics or RF technology, military, or technical school preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • U.S. Person required - U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. May be required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, wire lists, schematics, and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of bench-top lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meters, signal generators, frequency counters), soldering iron, and rework stations.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Repetitive hand movement required in the use of manual and electric tools.
  • Ability to grip, pinch, grasp, bend, crouch, kneel, and twist to operate various tools and machines for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good interpersonal skills, commitment to the highest quality achievable, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a changing fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet or exceed quality and quantity standards and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word) preferred.
  • Must be trustworthy, conscientious, self-motivated, self-supervised, dedicated, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong willingness to learn.

Physical Demands:

  • Capable of utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): gloves and eye protection.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
