Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Architectural Historian to join our dynamic Cultural Resource Group at our Parsippany, NJ office. The successful candidate will take the lead as principal investigator for reconnaissance and intensive-level surveys under the guidance of our Director. An option for remote work for non-field duties is available.
Responsibilities- Conduct in-field investigations and surveys to identify and document historic architectural resources.
- Author survey reports, including the development of historic contexts, and prepare evaluation forms and graphics for report production.
- Compile PDFs for final report production and maintain and organize digital project files.
- Conduct research at regional, local, and digital repositories to gather information on historic architectural resources.
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Standards for Historic Architecture.
- Experience with technical writing and Historic Preservation Office guidelines and standards.
- Experience conducting historic architectural surveys in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York is preferred.
- Must be able to describe vernacular and formal architectural styles, identify, and date above-ground cultural resources.
- Experience in the preparation of HABS/HAER documents is preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or other design and/or GIS programs is a plus.
