The Environmental Compliance Engineer is tasked with ensuring that Würth Elektronik products adhere to global customer requirements. This includes:
- Possessing and sharing knowledge of international environmental regulations and standards with colleagues and clients.
- Collaborating with corporate teams to ensure compliance for both standard and customized products.
- Tracking the progress of environmental initiatives, such as the EU RoHS Directive and the EU REACH Directive.
- Creating and delivering training sessions on environmental compliance.
- Gathering information from suppliers regarding the chemical composition of components.
- Managing Conflict Minerals reporting, including supplier surveys and data consolidation.
- Completing customer inquiries related to non-standard materials and directing them to relevant resources.
- Coordinating with customers, sales, and management to establish timelines for required information.
- Assisting laboratory operations in organizing and managing chemical storage and hazardous materials.
- Performing Component Engineering tasks related to chemicals, including documentation and evaluation.
- Collaborating with Component Engineers to approve design modifications that enhance compliance and accuracy.
- Supporting manufacturing and quality teams by participating in failure analysis as necessary.
- Overseeing external testing for restricted substances in compliance with regulations.
- Providing laboratory reports from third-party testing as required.
- Maintaining and updating environmental compliance documentation and procedures.
- Submitting comprehensive material declarations and compliance certificates for products.
- Working with Design Engineers to ensure accurate material declarations and compliance assessments.
- Monitoring product release statuses for regulatory compliance and updating internal systems accordingly.
- Maintaining an organized inventory of compliance documents and ensuring accurate revision control.
- Informing stakeholders about environmental issues that may necessitate action regarding components or products.
- Assisting in budget management and forecasting as needed.
- Collaborating with the Global Compliance team to develop and maintain compliance documentation.
