Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician I to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines and related equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed and odor control, disinfection equipment, vacuum filters, and belt presses.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical equipment to determine repairs needed.
  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing devices.
  • Re-assemble and test equipment to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions are restored.
  • Perform facility maintenance and repair, including replacing or installing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tiles, door locks, carpet, and/or paint.
  • Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes.
  • Estimate time and material costs for various projects.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in a fast-paced operations environment, with frequent exposure to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather. You will be required to travel 2 times per year for company-provided training and may be required to serve on a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call shift.

Requirements:

  • High school or GED with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • 6-12 months of experience in a related position, with the ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools, as well as shop tools such as drill presses, band saws, bench grinders, and torque wrenches.
  • Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to operate a Computer Maintenance Management System (software).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agency at site.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, Safety, Confined Space training, OSHA, and Quality Training.
  • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Level I and II First Responder Certification if required by site.
  • Minimum water/wastewater operator state certification.
  • Forklift Certification if required by site.
  • Training in operation of mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps and valves, pneumatics, electronics, and control systems.
  • Obtain or maintain HVAC, Electrician, Plumber's, or other trade License if assigned to that area.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires standing for 25% of the time, walking for 75% of the time, and frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel. You will also be required to work in various positions, including ladders, catwalks, and supports at heights of 50 feet above the ground, and work with hands extended above and below head and body up to 40 minutes using hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.
