Role Summary

As a Certified Respiratory Care Specialist, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and assessment of both routine and advanced life support apparatus used in diagnosing and treating respiratory conditions. This role involves working with a diverse patient demographic, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, under the guidance of the Director of Cardio-Respiratory Care Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to create and adjust patient care plans.
  • Administer complex therapies that require independent decision-making, particularly in critical care settings.
  • Conduct physical assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine lung function and blood gas levels.
  • Deliver treatment using oxygen therapies, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy techniques.
  • Instruct patients on the proper use of respiratory equipment and medications.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Eligibility for registry or current registration as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Preference for candidates with at least one year of clinical experience in Respiratory Care.
  • New York State license or permit required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized organization.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 37.50 hours per week, primarily during night shifts. The role may require rotating holidays and weekends.
