Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Sushi Chef to join our team at Hy-Vee, Inc. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality sushi dishes to our customers. This is a fast-paced environment where you will work closely with our culinary team to ensure exceptional customer service and a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve sushi dishes to customers, including making sushi from scratch and assembling pre-made sushi.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Work effectively with our culinary team to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date on menu trends and ingredients, making recommendations to our culinary team as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; food safety certification preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment, communicating effectively with colleagues and management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Working Conditions:
This position is continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes. There is occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals/solvents. This is a fast-paced work environment with significant pressure.
Equipment Used:
Oven, steamer, scale, big mixer, shrink wrap machine, Telexon re-ordering machine, register, walk-in-cooler, knives, serving cases, and C.A.R.S. system.
Contacts:
Daily contact with internal customers and the general public. Weekly contact with suppliers and vendors. Contact with Federal and State government and/or regulatory agencies as necessary.
