Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at West Fraser. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties involving technical electronic diagnostics, computer equipment, and precision instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with equipment and rolling stock, including cutting, welding, and repair of chains, sprockets, shafts, bearings, belts, sheaves, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and cranes.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and lubricating equipment to prevent malfunctions.
  • Operate various mechanical and electronic test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical changes and equipment designs by attending classes as needed.
  • Lead or participate in improvement and planning teams to optimize maintenance processes.
  • Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as scheduled or required.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment and completing required training.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand technical drawings.
  • Experience with fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
