Job Description

Melt Shop - West 50th Street is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Crew Member to join our team. As a Crew Member, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating our grill and sandwich maker, and maintaining a clean and organized restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer friendly service to all guests
  • Take customer orders, maintain fast, accurate service, and positive guest relations
  • Operate grill and sandwich maker in an efficient and safe manner
  • Ensure company standards on equipment, facility, and grounds are maintained
  • Ensure food quality and 100% customer satisfaction
  • Maintain the restaurant with regards to cleanliness, neatness, and customer accessibility
  • Use the company cash register accurately and maintain proper control of company assets
  • Work as a team member to support other restaurant employees in their duties
  • Receive payments by cash, credit, or debit cards, and gift cards
  • Issue receipts, refunds, or change due
  • Assist customers by providing menu information and resolving their complaints or concerns
  • Readily identify prices of menu items and calculate bill using POS
  • Enthusiastically greet customers entering the restaurant
  • Answer customers' questions and provide information on the store's policies and relevant procedures regarding the preparation or cooking process
  • Maintain a clean and orderly register area
  • Mix milkshakes and other beverages as necessary
Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience in either a food service or retail environment is preferred
  • Experience in providing customer service and a desire to grow in the food industry is strongly preferred
  • Must have a very hands-on work style and be actively involved in all daily functions of the store
  • A NYC Food Handlers License is not required to be considered for this position but is preferred
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos is necessary
  • The position also requires the ability to write simple correspondences and the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers
  • This position requires that you are able to convey information effectively and accurately, vocalize clearly and loudly enough to be heard in a noisy environment, and proficiently speak, read, and write the English language
  • The position requires knowledge of simple math and its application to receive and disburse cash
  • The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations and people is required
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills are needed
  • Must be able to operate a cash register
  • The position's physical demands require work in a restaurant/kitchen environment with moderate to loud noise levels, varying temperature conditions, and possible direct exposure to hazardous substances
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, travel, and react quickly to deadlines, sometimes with little notice
  • The employee is often required to stand for long periods, walk, bend, kneel, and reach with hands to retrieve boxes or food containers typically weighing 50 pounds or less, without restrictions
  • Finger dexterity is required for use of a cash register
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to travel as needed
Working Conditions:

The Crew Member will work in a fast-paced restaurant environment with moderate to loud noise levels, varying temperature conditions, and possible direct exposure to hazardous substances. The employee will be required to stand for long periods, walk, bend, kneel, and reach with hands to retrieve boxes or food containers typically weighing 50 pounds or less, without restrictions.
