Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings. The Sign Language Interpreter will collaborate with students, teachers, and staff to ensure effective communication and access to educational opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students in classrooms, meetings, and school events.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interpreted sessions.
  • Stay updated with best practices in sign language interpretation.
  • Participate in professional development activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
  • Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame.
  • Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
