Centers for Independence is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to transport children with acute medical conditions as part of our Pediatric Skilled Nursing (PSN) Program.
Job Summary:The Driver will operate a vehicle to pick up and drop off children with acute medical conditions enrolled in the PSN Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate a vehicle to transport children with acute medical conditions to and from medical appointments and other destinations.
- Ensure the safety of all riders by using appropriate passenger restraining devices and following all safety protocols.
- Complete daily driver trip sheets, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation.
- Aid clients with acute medical conditions when boarding and exiting the vehicle.
- Provide minor vehicle maintenance as needed, including checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Document all assigned vehicle activities for each day, including odometer readings and fuel purchases.
- Maintain the vehicle's interior and exterior appearance.
- Provide secondary transportation to other designated agency divisions for medical and social trip purposes.
- Attend departmental and agency-wide safety briefings and training sessions as required.
- A valid Wisconsin driver's license without limitations that are incompatible with duties and responsibilities.
- A motor vehicle record acceptable to program and/or contractual requirements.
- Vehicle liability insurance in accordance with Agency policy if using your own vehicle.
- Ability to work with children with acute medical conditions.
- Ability to read and understand a map of the PSN service area (Milwaukee County) and utilize navigation tools if available.
- Knowledge to use work-related equipment and applications, such as cell phones and texting, computers, photo copiers, Microsoft Office, and Teams.
- Communication skills, talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken and written word.
- Present a positive public image of the PSN Program and MCFI and maintain confidentiality.
The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. The worker is required to have the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Working Conditions:This position may work in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments, which may include various outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and fluctuating temperatures.
