As a Barn Hand at the Plainfield Park District, you will play a vital role in the care and well-being of our horses. This part-time position requires a strong work ethic and attention to detail, as you will be responsible for assisting with barn operations and ensuring the health and safety of our equine friends.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily barn operations, including cleaning stalls, turning horses inside and outside, feeding, and watering.
Monitor supplies and notify the manager when quantities are low.
Monitor the health of horses and notify the manager of any irregularities immediately.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including waste disposal and efficient use of containers.
Provide excellent customer service and direct visitors to the Equestrian Center to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements:
1 year of practical experience in the equine field.
CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification required; or ability to obtain within three months of hire date.
Valid driver's license required.
Knowledgeable and trainable in farm machinery operation.
General knowledge of horses and care preferred.
Ability to follow direction and work independently.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
