Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at the Amity Foundation's Los Angeles County Training Center (LACTC) project. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook three balanced meals a day for the entire program, ensuring that all meals meet the highest standards of quality, nutrition, and safety.
  • Food Service Management: Work closely with the Food Service Manager to plan, prepare, and present meals, as well as assist with ordering and storing food that meets all relevant health and safety standards.
  • Menu Planning: Assist in the development and implementation of a monthly rotation menu that meets the dietary needs and preferences of our students and staff.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the training and development of students learning the vocation of food service, including cooking, food preparation, and presentation of meals, as well as dining room esthetics and food storage procedures.
  • Community Building: Participate in community building day activities and follow the community schedule to ensure that all meals are presented on time.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or actively working toward HS Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: One year related culinary experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: ServeSafe Certification and a valid state driver's license.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Personal Qualities: Maintain social, ethical, and organizational values and norms; build trust and confidence with staff and students; respect confidentiality.
