Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the security, safety, and well-being of all Renown Health Property and individuals within. The Security Officer will demonstrate leadership competencies, including ownership, improvement, innovation, collaboration, adaptability, integrity, and trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a secure environment for employees, patients, and visitors at all Renown Health facilities.
  • Provide service of the highest quality, optimizing the patient's healthcare experience.
  • Respond to the needs and inquiries of the Renown Health community, striving for a safe and secure environment.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and inform the Security Officer in charge of necessary statutory reporting.
  • Promote crime prevention and utilize proactive techniques to reduce crime, theft, and loss of Renown Health property.
  • Administer patient restraints when authorized by an approved medical practitioner.
  • Be cross-trained as a security dispatcher and detain individuals subject to arrest who pose an immediate threat.
  • Interact with law enforcement agencies, including the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Department, and Nevada State Police.
  • Work all shifts and respond to emergencies as needed.
Requirements
  • High school degree preferred; a college degree in Criminal Justice or a related field preferred.
  • 1-year experience in law enforcement or security is desirable, with healthcare security experience preferred.
  • Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria upon hire.
  • AHA Heart Saver certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • Department-approved handcuffing, OC spray, and de-escalation training certifications required within 90 days of hire.
