At Shockwave Medical, Inc., we are revolutionizing the treatment of complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our innovative approach involves using sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque, establishing a new standard of care in medical device treatment.

Role Overview

The Principal R&D Electrical Engineer will lead technical development of cutting-edge electronic systems to treat peripheral and heart valve diseases. This role requires participation on multiple cross-functional development teams that manage projects from concept through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Architect and design electronic pulse discharge systems for medical devices.
  2. Develop proof of concept designs and bench models to test these concepts in a simulated environment.
  3. Translate user needs into design inputs/product specifications.
  4. Create technical specifications from specific user requirements.
  5. Develop, validate, and maintain system test methods and plans.
  6. Lead less-senior engineers to develop system and circuit board test fixtures.
  7. Direct and/or perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and manage prototype builds.
  8. Perform functional verification of systems to medical device standards.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering with 10+ years of design and development experience, or a Master's Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering with 8+ years of design and development experience.
  2. Experience in architecting and bringing new products to market.
  3. Experience in all product design phases from concept to commercialization.
  4. Extensive experience with schematic capture, and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  5. Experience with analog and digital circuit modeling tools.
