Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Director of Cyber Security, the Information Security Analyst will play a crucial role in shaping security strategies, policies, and addressing security challenges. The analyst will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the organization's security framework. Key responsibilities include conducting risk evaluations, overseeing security technologies and events, managing security incidents, providing incident response, and remaining informed about the latest security trends and technologies. This role also involves contributing to security awareness programs and support across the organization.

The ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of security standards, best practices, processes, policies, and tools. A comprehensive understanding of organizational issues related to system security and user access is essential. The position requires the ability to integrate security functions into system design and configuration. Candidates should demonstrate the capability to implement organizational processes and procedures, analyze information, and propose improvements or resolutions. Familiarity with various platforms, operating systems, networks, and firewalls is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and vendors are required, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, recommend, and assist in the implementation of cybersecurity solutions for organizational systems and products that adhere to all relevant security policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and business partners to ensure security considerations are integrated into the evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration of hardware and software.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations to enhance network, system, and application architectures.
  • Review network, server, and application logs to identify trends and detect security incidents.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of policies, procedures, standards, playbooks, and plans for system security administration and user access based on industry best practices.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with established security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security audits and reviews of firewall and IPS policies.
  • Assist in responding to audits, penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, and evaluating security controls of third-party vendors.
  • Serve as an advisor to the IT management team and the Director of Cyber Security in governance processes related to security strategies.
  • Support security and networking teams in maintaining security environments, including MS Windows servers, VMware, network infrastructure, firewalls, and security appliances.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in strategic security planning to align with business objectives by prioritizing initiatives and managing current and future security technologies.
  • Engage with management and employees to provide technical expertise; participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Support the Director of Cyber Security in developing and communicating security strategies and plans to the IT management team and stakeholders.
  • Participate in developing and evaluating security performance metrics.
  • Monitor security events to detect and investigate potential breaches or threats.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an Associate degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Three to five years of experience directly related to Information Security.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Technical expertise in network security, including VPN, firewalls, and intrusion detection.
  • Core knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • Practical experience with database security and data loss prevention.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the public sector, particularly in financial services.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST CSF or ISO27001.
  • Experience with data classification and data loss prevention.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language.
  • Knowledge of security software solutions.
  • Linux experience is a plus.
  • Relevant security certifications are desirable.
