Fleet Services Manager

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Aide to join our Medical Surgical team at Long Island Community Hospital. As a Nurse Aide, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver basic nursing care to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety needs are met.
Respond promptly to patient call lights, determining their needs and relaying information to nursing personnel.
Observe patients and report any changes in condition to the nurse in a timely manner.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, and toileting.
Adapt care delivery to meet individual patient needs.
Provide direct nursing care, including vital signs, weight, complete/partial baths, skin care, Foley catheter care, enemas, and specimen collection, in compliance with policy and procedure.
Demonstrate proper turning, positioning, and transferring techniques when providing patient care.
Distribute patient nourishment, assist with feeding as indicated, and collect trays at the end of the meal.
Estimate food and fluid consumption by patients at each meal and record data on the flow sheet, Intake & Output record, or Calorie Count Sheet.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
Monitor and maintain service rooms in an orderly manner, preparing equipment for return to Central Service.
Identify patients prior to care delivery by checking identification arm bands.
Recognize safety hazards and act promptly and appropriately.
Complete patient rounds on a regular basis to monitor for patient safety.
Utilize proper body mechanics and safety measures during patient transfers or lifting.
Demonstrate compliance with the measures outlined in the Falls Prevention Program.
Accept care assignments willingly and assist with tasks on other units as needed.
Respond to fluctuations in workload by helping to complete tasks of another staff member.
Complete various errands as requested.
Interact effectively with staff on the unit and in other departments.
Work collaboratively with management to improve the environment of care for patients, family, and personnel.
Seek assistance from the Nurse Manager and Nursing Administrative Supervisor as needed.
Participate in the evaluation of nursing practices and support measures to improve practice.
Attend and participate in educational programs to maintain competence.
Comply with staff meeting attendance requirements.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
BLS certification, de-escalation, and first aid training
Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand patient plans of care and record data on medical records
Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level to take and record patient vital signs, weight, and I & O
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families, demonstrating recognition of cultural diversity
Basic analytical skills to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret, and report outcomes to the nurse or document on medical records
Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
