Automated Equipment Test Specialist

Job Summary

Viking Engineering and Development is seeking a skilled Automated Equipment Test Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of our automated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the electrical team with power-up, programming, and I/O checks.
  • Verify the mechanical build to ensure the equipment functions within its specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings as necessary to meet production quality and rate requirements.
  • Document machine build issues and machine status at the time of shipping.
  • Meet machine shipment schedules.
  • Work closely with the engineering and service teams to submit engineering change requests as needed.
  • Contribute to the machine documentation manual, including specific operation instructions.
  • Participate in the assembly of machines as needed to meet production schedules.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in machine/equipment building, assembly, and testing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on basic hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
  • Proven knowledge of machine building and electrical wiring best practices.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and PLC troubleshooting procedures.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting machine documentation, including SolidWorks models and assembly drawings.
  • Experience with servo-controlled equipment is required.

Preferred Software Experience

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Emerson PAC Machine Edition.
  • B&R Automation Studios.

Work Environment

The Viking Test Technician works primarily on the production floor, with some time in an office space. Steel Toe Safety Shoes and Safety Glasses are required on the production floor. Hearing protection is recommended when equipment is running.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, kneel, or bend.
  • The employee must have the dexterity to work on and around automated machinery.
  • The employee must regularly be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel

Occasional travel may be requested.
