Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing our fleet of tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities. You will work closely with our operations team to ensure that our equipment is running efficiently and safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular scheduled tractor inspections and complete checklists
  • Troubleshoot and repair routine issues with tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units
  • Perform major repairs, including disassembling, removing, and replacing defective parts or components
  • Servicing and repairing refrigeration units, including engines, leaks, tubing, condensers, thermal controls, and recharge units
  • Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, ladders, and tripods, as well as construct new cargo bars
  • Assist on road service trips, maintain required logs, records, checklists, and reports
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 6-12 months training in truck/automotive maintenance
  • Ability to interpret data and use advanced skills knowledge equivalent to 6-12 months training
Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of $22.00 per hour based on experience, with opportunities for overtime pay after 40 hours per week. We also provide annual safety boot allowance, training to obtain certifications, and benefits effective Day 1 of employment.
