Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced dental hygiene clinical instructor to join our team at the Community College of Baltimore County. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching dental hygiene students during clinical rotations on campus.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical instruction in dental hygiene care processes, including clinical skills and evaluation of clinical procedures.
- Work under the supervision of the Dental Hygiene Program Director and in partnership with the dental hygiene clinic coordinator.
- Develop and implement teaching methods to meet the varied learning styles of students.
- Supervise and grade clinical monitor duties performed by students.
- Administer and grade clinical skills in accordance with course objectives.
- Monitor student performance and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Follow the dental hygiene student clinic handbook policies and procedures.
- Provide consultation on medical histories of new and recall clients.
- Supervise students during the administration of local anesthesia and monitoring of nitrous oxide for clinic patients.
- Evaluate and grade dental radiographs, adjunctive oral clinical skills in accordance with course objectives.
- Respond to emergency situations and implement emergency procedures.
- Share information about students' needs, attendance, and achievements with the director and other faculty members.
- Assume responsibility for own continuing education by participation in workshops, seminars, regional, and/or national meetings.
- Attend regularly scheduled department meetings.
- Participate in trainings, orientations, and college-required activities.
- Assist in dental hygiene program accreditation process.
- Perform other duties delegated by the Faculty Program Director of Dental Hygiene.
- Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited institution and three years of clinical dental hygiene practice.
- Licensed to practice dental hygiene in the State of Maryland or be eligible for licensure.
- Licensed to provide local anesthesia and monitor nitrous oxide as outlined in the Maryland State Dental Practice Act.
- Knowledgeable of current technologies in the clinic and appropriate to the area of instruction.
- Possess knowledge of and demonstrates proficiency in current concepts in dental hygiene, dental hygiene education, clinical instruction, general dentistry, and clinical practice.
