Salary Range

The salary for this position ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour, offering a competitive compensation package that reflects the value we place on our employees' hard work and dedication.

Job Description

As a Food Service Assistant at Guthrie Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of food service to our patients. Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining good communication with patients, residents, customers, and co-workers

• Responding to customer issues and concerns, promptly reporting them to your supervisor

• Visiting patients and residents to assist with menu selections, accurately entering their choices into tablets following dietary restrictions

• Delivering meals to patients and meal rounding, following up immediately on any requests or concerns

• Preparing for meal service lines, making sure all areas are stocked and ready for service on time

• Performing cashier duties, accurately ringing up sales, making change, and handling customer concerns

• Maintaining a clean, sanitary working environment, adhering to state, JCAHO, and department standards and sanitation procedures

• Reporting any safety hazards to your supervisor

• Working safely with equipment, including correct operating and cleaning, and reporting malfunctions to your supervisor

• Identifying and utilizing cleaning chemicals correctly, following directions recommended by manufacturers and SDS sheets

• Following facility and department infection control policies and procedures

• Participating in emergency programs and attending drills as appropriate

• Adhering to facility confidentiality and patient rights as outlined in the facility HIPPA policy and procedure

• Participating in departmental meetings and staff development programs as appropriate

• Assisting in the training of new employees, making them feel welcomed and at ease

• Utilizing proper body mechanics to prevent injuries

• Attending meetings and training sessions as required

• Participating in quality work groups and supporting performance improvement initiatives and goals

• Demonstrating effective time management, completing tasks on time

• Demonstrating safe working habits

• Maintaining a neat, clean, and sanitary work area

• Maintaining good order, cleanliness, and sanitary standards of food storage areas, freezers, and refrigerators

• Being able to work on a rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays as assigned

• Following dress code and good personal hygiene practices

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A High School graduate (or GED) preferred

• The ability to read, write, and understand written and oral communication

• Previous Food Service experience in a healthcare setting desirable but not required

• Previous customer service experience desirable, preferably in the food service industry

• Personal computer skills preferred
