SUMMARY:

Agile Defense is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of VDI Systems Administrator.

In this position, you will be responsible for providing system administration support for various applications and managed IT systems within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Your expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) engineering and policy requirements will be essential in advancing the client's VDI initiatives. You will utilize your knowledge of VMware vSphere 5 and 6, as well as Horizon View 5, 6, and 7, to implement, design, and manage desktop virtualization solutions. Additionally, you will administer Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016, manage Active Directory, configure Group Policy Objects (GPO), and ensure compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG). You will also oversee a secure VMware lab environment, which includes Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Cisco IOS and NXOS-based networking equipment. Your role will involve preparing spend plans for future deployment needs and conducting thorough market research to validate vendor quotes. You will be tasked with creating comprehensive technical documentation to enable other technicians to replicate installation, configuration, testing, and deployment processes accurately.

DUTIES:
  • Ensure the efficient operation of multi-user computer systems, collaborating with network engineers as necessary.
  • Establish administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, optimize system performance, install software across the system, and manage storage allocations.
  • Engage with users to assess vendor products and provide feedback.
  • Recommend hardware and software purchases, coordinate installations, and implement backup recovery solutions.
  • Develop and enforce policies and standards for the allocation of computing resources.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide support to remote virtualization environments.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, systems, and components, along with desktop systems and associated peripherals.
  • Deploy and sustain enterprise-level virtual desktop infrastructure environments.
  • Apply necessary patches, updates, and upgrades to servers and workstations, and conduct network scans as required.
  • Generate required reports and submit them for review by relevant personnel.
  • Deliver enterprise-level support in the execution, testing, documentation, and deployment of solutions aimed at virtualizing desktop environments and associated training applications.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • IAT Level II (Security+ Certification)
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Relevant Computing Environment (CE) certification such as VCP
Background Needed and Years of Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in administering and deploying VMware vSphere 5 and/or 6 and Horizon View 5, 6, and/or 7
  • At least 2 years of experience in system administration
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 configuration and administration
  • Proficiency in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers in compliance with standards
  • Experience in designing and documenting new infrastructure deployments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, and Microsoft Office products
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Technical Skills:
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of hardware such as Storage Area Networks, iSCSI, FCoE, EMC Storage, and VMware VSAN
  • Knowledge of ACAS, DoD STIG, and Symantec Altiris
  • Experience with VMware ThinApp and Liquidware ProfileUnity
  • Familiarity with Dell or Cisco UCS server management
  • Experience implementing VMware, UNIX, and Windows STIGs
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, PowerCLI, or NaviCLI
  • Experience with EMC VNX or XtremIO Storage Arrays using Fiber Channel or Fiber Channel over Ethernet
  • Familiarity with programming in JSON or REST API for automating VMware installations
  • Experience with Cisco NXOS Switch and Router configuration
  • Knowledge of Hyper-Converged Virtualization hardware platforms, including Cisco HyperFlex, VMware VSAN, or NUTANIX
WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is primarily based in an office environment with minimal travel (0%-10%). Occasional off-hours work may be required to support system releases and outages. The work environment is generally favorable, with adequate lighting and temperature, and no hazardous conditions present.

Strength Demands:

This role is classified as sedentary, with a maximum lifting requirement of 10 lbs. Occasional lifting or carrying of small items may be necessary, along with limited walking or standing.
