Position Overview:

The Automotive Transmission Specialist plays a crucial role in diagnosing and executing vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks as directed, adhering to factory and dealership standards and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently perform tasks outlined in maintenance and repair orders in line with dealership protocols.
  • Disassemble, diagnose, and rectify issues within vehicle transmissions.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and inspection of all components.
  • Provide accurate labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
  • Communicate mechanical diagnoses and necessary repairs in a clear, non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
  • Engage in continuous learning of new technical information and methodologies through formal training sessions to keep pace with evolving technology.
  • Inspect and test new vehicles, documenting findings to ensure necessary repairs are executed.

Compensation:

The minimum hourly pay rate is $16.00, with potential increases based on productivity, without any upper limit.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an engine and transmission technician at a GM dealership or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of machinery and tools, including their design, application, repair, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles and troubleshoot operational errors.
  • Capacity to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and legal documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position include:

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with arms and legs; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Exerting maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Engaging in physical activities that require significant use of arms and legs.
