Position Overview:

Tetra Tech is in search of a Chemical Process Engineer with substantial industrial experience in the mining, minerals, and metals industry. This role will entail providing process engineering expertise to Tetra Tech and its clients, acting as the design technical lead in areas such as mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, equipment design and selection, technical studies, and process simulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver process engineering solutions that align with Tetra Tech’s standards, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory specifications, while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Conduct process engineering tasks, including:
    • Identifying and documenting changes to project scope.
    • Assisting in the development of proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
    • Providing support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
    • Contributing to relevant studies and analyses, offering actionable recommendations.
    • Assisting in the creation of detailed designs, drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and reports.
  • Develop, review, and approve process engineering deliverables, including but not limited to:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Process models utilizing software such as Aspen HYSYS, Unisim Design, PipeFLO, or similar tools.
    • Calculations for line sizing, velocity, and pressure drops.
    • Specifications for equipment sizing related to bulk separation vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control valves, and pressure safety valves.
    • Process engineering studies and technical reports.
    • Participation in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for assigned projects.
    • Engagement in project design reviews, providing constructive feedback.
    • Reviewing interdisciplinary deliverables, ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements and innovations in process engineering.
  • Effectively communicate with the process engineering team and project stakeholders.
  • Identify challenges and develop suitable solutions, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Evaluate existing systems to propose upgrades or efficiency improvements.
  • Review design documents for compliance with concepts, codes, and contract requirements, ensuring a comprehensive design package.
  • Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process or chemical engineering within the mining, minerals, and metals sector.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in various process modeling software for effective design, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritizing tasks and resources efficiently.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Compliance with pre-employment drug screening as per state regulations.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

Compensation: Target Salary Range: $125,000 to $165,000.
