Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Developmental Specialist to join our team at Friendship Community Care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction, observing, and evaluating children's performance, while creating a classroom environment that encourages learning and builds positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individual plans of care, ensuring their implementation by an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide instruction, observe, and evaluate children's performance, creating a classroom environment that encourages learning and builds positive relationships.
  • Conduct developmental screenings, collect Work Sampling/Ounce data, and maintain portfolios for ABC/ABCSS children.
  • Enter all Work Sampling/Ounce data into the database system and complete ABC data entry in COPA for all ABC children.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences, provide direct teaching in the classroom, and assist in ABC/ABCSS enrollment as deemed by the Program Administrator.
  • Supervise, engage with, and teach all children in classrooms throughout the day, developing and implementing classroom schedules, and maintaining an environment based on ITERS/ECERS standards.
  • Use positive behavior guidance and classroom management techniques, ensuring Quality Standards of Care for Early Childhood programs are met.
  • Assure room readiness for children's arrival each morning, preparing the day's activities and gathering needed supplies.
  • Ensure classrooms are in ratio at all times, communicating effectively with program administrators and teacher assistants to ensure compliance.
  • Plan and organize parent/family involvement events, creating and maintaining regular communications with parents, including monthly calendars, daily notes, and cuddle-grams.
  • Report child record updates to office staff as needed and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Follow FCC Policy/Procedures manual and minimum licensing requirements for childcare centers, working safely by following OSHA/Infection Control guidelines.
  • Assist with nursing duties, such as medication administration and medical procedures, after being trained.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S or B.A) from a four-year college or university and one of the following: Child Development Associate credential, Birth to PreK credential, documented experience working with special needs children, and 12 hours of completed college coursework in early childhood, child development, special education, elementary education, or child/family studies.
  • Must have supervisory skills and be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to noise and moderate physical demands, including standing, walking, and reaching.
