Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures at a technical level, utilizing established scan protocols and complex imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computed tomography procedures, including contrast administration, without requiring constant supervision.
  • Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data, completing procedures according to protocol.
  • Ensure all exams within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy, assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast media required for the imaging procedure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, explaining procedures to help alleviate patient fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to interact with both patients and coworkers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Identify all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures, reviewing patient history and assessing physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
  • Document patient history in the electronic record as required, demonstrating proper technique in venipuncture and proper use of power injector according to set protocols set by the department and/or manufacturer.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
  • ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist is required or certified by a CNMT program.
  • Must obtain CT Board Certification within 18 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS required.
  • ARRT Certificate or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting.
  • Act 33.
  • Act 34.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance.
