Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hourly mechanics, electricians, and laborers, ensuring the safe maintenance of the plant and its equipment.
  • Guarantee the quality of the department's final products.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and empower employees to identify issues.
  • Adapt to changing production demands.
  • Accurately report and manage Plant Maintenance Notifications and PM schedules.
  • Develop areas of responsibility, including preventive maintenance and spare parts management.
  • Maintain effective communication with other maintenance supervisors, managers, engineers, trainers, HR, and production teams.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Support and implement the daily and weekend plans provided by production teams.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance holiday shutdowns and outages.
  • Ensure accurate completion of employee time cards daily.
  • Become proficient in utilizing the SAP maintenance system.
  • Evaluate skilled trades employees and recommend training for improvement; conduct annual evaluations for direct reports.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and caring attitude towards all team members.
  • Directly supervise maintenance department employees and uphold organizational policies and legal standards.
  • Manage the maintenance expense budget for your area, including accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Engage in hiring, training, and performance management of employees; address complaints and resolve issues.
  • Provide weekend support for maintenance activities, including facility startup on weekends.
  • Respond to emergencies, equipment failures, and call-ins as necessary.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presentations to groups.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations involving discounts, interest, and other figures.
  • Ability to analyze problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capable of interpreting complex technical instructions and managing multiple variables.

Education:

A two-year certificate from a college or technical school, along with five years of relevant experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity within a maintenance department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with the ability to maintain payroll records and submit requisitions using the SAP system. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Inventor is advantageous.
