Position Overview:

At Norfolk Crush, a facility dedicated to the daily processing of 110,000 bushels of soybeans into various products, the Lead Electrical Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our electrical systems. This position involves executing electrical repairs, troubleshooting issues, and performing installations as directed by the maintenance management team. While this role does not include direct supervision of staff, the Lead Technician will collaborate closely with an automation technician and another electrician to fulfill assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily electrical work orders as assigned by maintenance management.
  • Maintain and update electrical schematics, coordinating with external engineering services as necessary.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on instrumentation.
  • Actively engage in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement within the plant.
  • Report any electrical concerns to plant leadership promptly.
  • Work in partnership with maintenance management to ensure the upkeep of electrical systems.
  • Comply with operational policies and procedures, leading safety initiatives and promoting a culture of safety to achieve zero incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory standards, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in food, feed, or chemical processing.
  • Availability for on-call duties, typically every other week, including work during scheduled shutdowns.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across various organizational levels.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively within a team across different departments and shifts.
  • Proficient in quality standards and data collection techniques.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a willingness to assist the maintenance team as needed.
  • Competency in computer skills is essential.
  • A proactive approach to supporting the plant's operational needs beyond the basic job description.

Business Acumen:

Technical Expertise: Experience in bioprocessing or similar industrial production environments, including knowledge of large-scale production equipment, automation, troubleshooting, and vendor oversight. A solid understanding of both technical and process aspects is vital for success in this role.

Team Development: Employing effective methods and a flexible interpersonal style to foster a cohesive team environment, facilitating the achievement of team objectives, and providing necessary resources while removing obstacles to success.

Organizational Skills: Establishing clear action plans for oneself and others to ensure efficient task completion, prioritizing assignments, and coordinating with internal and external partners.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, with a rotating schedule.
