Pediatric Optometrist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Optometrist to provide faculty support to the Department of Ophthalmology at UTMB Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pediatric optical care, including annual vision screening, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions of the eye. The position will also involve receiving referrals from ophthalmologists for patients needing monitoring and medical follow-up, increasing access to the surgeons, as well as access to triage and assessment of patients needing referrals to the surgeons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide pediatric optical care, including annual vision screening, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions of the eye.
• Receive referrals from ophthalmologists for patients needing monitoring and medical follow-up.
• Assist in fulfilling UTMB's mission by providing faculty support to the Department of Ophthalmology.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Completed an ACGME approved residency training program in general optometry.
• Certified/Board eligible in Optometry.
• Texas Optometry License without restrictions.

Work Environment: The Pediatric Optometrist will work in a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment, with a primary clinic location on the mainland. The position will also involve working at UTMB Galveston locations.
